Patrol Meeting Schedule

We are expecting patrols who do not have everyone at 1st Class or above to meet on the following dates: 

Jan 22nd, Feb 5th, Mar 5th, March 19th, April 2nd, April 16th, April 30th, May 14th, May 28th, June 11th.  

 

Patrols where everyone is 1st Class or above will need to meet on the following dates:

  Jan 22nd, Feb 5th, Mar 19th, April 16th, May 14th, June 11th.

JANUARY
January 1 - ** NO Meeting **

January 8 - Troop Meeting

7:00 at FPCK. Program Patrol is the Leadership.


Bark Mulch Sales packages will be distributed by Ms. Purgahn to all active troop members.  Scouts may begin calling their customers from on their list.  

Troop Guide instruction for advancements are available at 6:30 PM 
January 9 - Committee Meeting

7:00 PM at FPCK. Agenda will be e-mailed prior to the meeting. A representative from the program will preview the February program.

 
January 13-15 - Winter Camp

Lake Houston Park. Camp check-in starts Saturday morning at 7:45 AM at FPCK.  We will travel to camp just like any other campout.  Camp check-out ends Monday afternoon at 2:00 PM.  We will be camping in the Oakwood site.  Scouts are responsible for their own transportation from camp.

Multi-unit event with Troops 9 and 27. Participate in Merit Badge classes toward rank advancement. Enjoy evening activities (movie night). All meals are included (no cooking!).

Troop 839 will be hosting visiting Webelos and their parents on Sunday afternoon/evening. This is a great opportunity to see the Scouts in action. Contact Scott deMasi (Scoutmaster) to make arrangements for a troop visit.

There will be a multi Troop campfire on Sunday night beginning at 7:00 PM which concludes with an Order of the Arrow (OA) tap out ceremony. There will be a cracker barrel after the events for everyone to enjoy. Click on read more for Winter Camp schedule and travel directions. read more ...

1:00 PM at Lake Houston Park. All Scouts in a Leadership Position need to attend.

January 27 - Bark Mulch Sales

Assemble at Christ the King Lutheran Church youth building (3803 West Lake Houston Pkwy, Kingwood) at 8 AM. Bark Mulch is our troop's primary fund raiser. This is an 'all-hands-on-deck' event.

Canvas the neighborhood selling bark mulch. Earn money for your troop's program activities and to offset your costs for scouting events such as Summer Camp. Parents are needed to drive scout salesmen groups to their routes.

February 5 - Troop Meeting

7:00 at FPCK. Program Patrol is The Patrol. Service Patrol is the Cobras.


Merit Badges are Archery, Shotgun and Rifle. Anyone wishing to work on the merit badge should get a blue card from our Advancment Chairperson - Mr. Standley.

 
February 6 - Committee Meeting

7:00 PM at FPCK. Agenda will be e-mailed prior to the meeting. A representative from the Squirrel/Cobras patrol to preview the March program.


 
February 10 - CERT Rodeo

Come out and help the CERT trainees qualify for their certifications as they do their testing.  Our scouts will help in multiple ways as assistants, victims, clean-up, etc.  Held at the Sheriff's Department training center on Atascocita Road.

This activity counts as one of the needed requirements on Emergency Prep merit badge.

 
February 11 - Scout Sunday
Assembly time to be determined. Scouts and Adults assist (ushers, readers, etc.) with church service. Support your chartered organization. See sign-up sheet at Troop Meeting entrance table. 
February 12 - Court of Honor

7:00 PM at FPCK in the Sanctuary. Program patrol is The Patrol. Scout recognition for achieving rank advancements, completing merit badges, and earning special awards.

We will also be conducting our annual Food Drive and ask that all Scouts bring 2 cans of non-perishable items to the Court of Honor.

 
February 16-18 - Shooting Campout

East Texas Rifle and Pistol Club in Longview, TX. 6:00 PM Friday check-in at FPCK, DEPARTURE AT 6:30 PM. 2:00-3:00 PM Sunday approximate return at Luby's Cafeteria parking lot (across from Harley-Davidson of Kingwood).

Archery, tomahawk, rifle, and shotgun shooting. All shooting sports equipment will be provided by the troop. Must be First Class rank to fire shotguns. Must be Tenderfoot rank to fire rifles.

February 22 - Robert Baden-Powell's Birthday
Celebrate the birthday of the Founder of Boy Scouts by living the Scout Law and Oath! 
February 26 - Troop Meeting - Scout Investiture

7:00 at FPCK. Program Patrol is The Patrol.

Scout Investiture is when all the new scouts will be assigned to their permenant patrols, choose a name, a yell and then be brought officially into the troop.
